It documents a fictional correspondence between Captain Robert Walton and his sister, Margaret Walton Saville. Walton is a failed writer who sets out to explore the North Pole in hopes of expanding scientific knowledge. For years, the 1910 version of Frankenstein was believed to be a lost film. Before digital technology, it was not uncommon to have films to be completely destroyed and no longer be in existence.

Dawley worked at Edison Studios and created the film in about three days. It is about 13 minutes long and is a silent film. A fight ensues but the monster, seeing himself in a mirror, is horrified and runs away. Frankenstein, a young medical student, trying to create the perfect human being, instead creates a misshapen monster. Made ill by what he has done, Frankenstein is comforted by his fiancée; but on his wedding night he is visited by the monster. The story of Frankenstein was first brought to the screen in 1910, about 15 years after the invention of the new medium film. It was a 12-minute short simply entitled Frankenstein, directed by J Searle Dawley and produced by the Edison Film Company.In this film Dr. Frankenstein creates a monster by, a hairy brute played by Charles Stanton Ogle, which emerges from a cauldron containing fiery Frankenstein (1910) cast and crew credits, including actors, actresses, directors, writers and more. 2016-08-01 Frankenstein (1910) is one of the earliest horror movies ever made, a stagey 13-minute film that is important mostly because it survived.
